Ana Popescu

Paradise is a series of 32 paper collages from the artist’s stay at PARADISE AIR artist-in-residency program in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in April 2023.

The series works as a visual diary of everyday impressions between Matsudo and Tokyo, linked by the Joban train line.

Details of buildings, the relation between light and shade, combined with bright colours portray a feeling of the peaceful but also busy life of everyday Japan.

Ana Pospescu is a French visual artist and illustrator born in Romania.
She studied printmaking and drawing at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria, and obtained her Master of Fine Arts in 2013.
She works in different media and explores different themes and perceptions of space. In her work, she combines simple forms, distorted perspectives, light, shadows and bright colours.
