About the illustration:
"The tiny sugar decorations on cakes were first made by Wuopean bakers in the 18th century. In French, they’re called nonpareils, meaning ‘without equal’. They’re now known as hundreds and thousands or sprinkles. The name comes from the idea that there are simply too many to count!"
